About Us

The Capital Region Chapter has been in existence for three decades. The Chapter was founded on April 9, 1986. Before the National association re-branded in 2006, we were called Self Help for Hard of Hearing People (SHHH) - Harrisburg Area Chapter. Over the years, we have learned and grown together as a group focused on self-advocacy and improving the lives of those living with a hearing loss.

Who We Are

Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) provides assistance and resources for people with hearing loss and their families to learn how to adjust to living with hearing loss. HLAA is working to eradicate the stigma associated with hearing loss and raise public awareness about the need for prevention, treatment, and regular hearing screenings throughout life.

Our Mission

Our mission is to open the world of communication to people with hearing loss by providing information, education, support, and advocacy.
